How to Request an Absentee Ballot

 

Before Starting

  1. Print out Application for Ballot by Mail
    1. Found at https://sdsos.gov/elections-voting/assets/AbsenteeApplication_202012.PDF  
    2. Either colored printers or black and white will work

Section 1

  1. Fill out your full name

Section 2

  1. Fill out with your home address in the county of which you want to vote in

Section 3

  1. Fill out with your full Princeton address
    1. STUDENT NAME
    2. XXXX Frist Campus Center
    3. Princeton, NJ 08544
      1. Can find your specific mailbox number by looking up your name at https://www.princeton.edu/search/people-advanced 

Section 4

  1. Choose which election you will be voting in

Section 5

  1. Fill in your phone number

Section 6

  1. Fill in all the boxes and if they are all “No,” move onto Section 6

Section 7

  1. You can choose to either 
    1. Submit a copy of identification
      1. Scan and print out any one of the stated accepted forms of identification 
      2. Just keep the print out with you until Mailing
    2. Sign with a notary
      1. More complicated and not free so copy of identification is recommended 
  2. Sign and date at “Voter’s Signature”

Section 8

  1. Not applicable because students have a different reason for voting by mail

Addressing

  1. Seal both the Application and your copy of identification in an envelope
  2. Fill out the “From” section with your Princeton Mailing address used in Section 3
  3. Fill out the “To” section with County Auditor’s address
    1. This information can be found at https://vip.sdsos.gov/countyauditors.aspx  
  4. Place stamp

Mailing the Application

  1. Drop off at the mailboxes around campus
    1. One is located near the package rooms in Frist Campus Center
    2. Another is located at the USPS Post Office on Nassau Street

Receiving Ballot

  1. You can track your application’s status at https://vip.sdsos.gov/VIPLogin.aspx  
  2. Once the ballot comes you can pick it up from your mailbox at Frist
